Many couples like to mark a significant anniversary in their marriage, or if they have recently come through a difficult time in their marriage, by having a church service in which they can give thanks to God and to seek God’s blessing on their future life together.
The Church of England offers married couples, the ‘Service of Thanksgiving for Marriage’ for such occasions.
The service has a number of similarities with a wedding service, but the main differences are:
- Husband and wife enter together without ceremony before the service begins and sit together throughout the service.
- Banns are not called and no registers are signed.
- Rings are not given or received, but if you are having new rings then a prayer of blessing can be used.
If you’d like to discuss the possibility of having such a service then please use the form below, and the Rector will be in touch to arrange a date and a time to meet up to discuss the service.
