New To The Area?

If you are new to the area or if you are thinking of visiting, we have collated a few websites that may help you get more acquainted with our area.

About our villages …

Wikipedia has general information about our villages Barton, Gotham, Kingston, Ratcliffe, and Thrumpton, which are situated in Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Four of them have their own village websites - Barton, Gotham, Kingston, and Thrumpton, and there is also the Gotham and District history society, where you can read about our villages’ interesting past.

Travel …

Whilst our villages are easily accessible by car from the M1 and A453, they are also only a short taxi ride from East Midlands Parkway train station, and the East Midlands Airport.

Gotham is served by the South Notts 1 bus (NCT1) which operates 7 days a week.
The other villages are on local bus service 865 which runs between Clifton Park and Ride and Normanton-on-Soar, though please do note that there is no bus service on a Sunday on this route.

There is also Redhill Marina near by if you prefer to arrive in leisurely style by boat.

Tourism …

Nottingham city centre is only 8 miles away, and local attractions such as Nottingham Castle, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham Race Course and Trent Bridge Cricket ground are all within easy reach.

Students …

For students, Nottingham University is one of the top ten universities in the country. There is also a thriving Christian fellowship; details available from the Chaplaincy team.

Somewhere to stay …

If you are coming to the area and are looking for somewhere to stay, we are very close to the village of Kegworth, where there is Kegworth House Hotel and the Yew Lodge Hotel.

So whether you are simply visiting or looking to stay for longer, we hope you will soon feel at home here.
